A technical project for an immersive streaming platform
YBVR is an award-winning virtual reality tech company that turns live event streams into an immersive and social experience, with video quality up to 8K at low bandwidth on any device. Its products — Xtadium Sports, Xtadium Music, CultVRe and YB Arena — are born from collaborations with names such as ESPN, UFC, NASCAR, DAZN, beIN Sports, EuroLeague, PSG, Verizon, AWS and Google Cloud. Together with YBVR’s in-house team, I handled the general system update and the technical optimization of the website.
The context: a high-traffic international website
When a website receives visits from all over the world, you don’t work on the engine while the car is running. YBVR’s site is built on WordPress with Elementor and it’s a living commercial asset: every intervention had to be safe, verifiable and reversible. That’s why the whole job was handled methodically, in constant coordination with the company’s in-house team.
Development environment and push to production
We worked with a separate development environment, where every change was implemented and tested before going live. A workflow that guaranteed:
- Zero risk to the production site during the work
- Real testing of every change before publication
- Controlled pushes to the live environment, with no downtime
- The chance to validate changes together with the team before release
System update and database cleanup
A website that grows over the years piles up weight, like a warehouse nobody tidies. The first job was putting things in order under the hood:
- General update of WordPress, Elementor, themes and plugins
- Database cleanup and optimization: leftover tables, revisions and unused data
- Reduction of the overall system load
- Compatibility check of all components after the update
Load time optimization
On a platform built around video performance, website speed isn’t a detail: it’s consistency. I worked on load time optimization, acting on resources, assets and configuration, to guarantee smooth browsing for an international audience connecting from very different devices and connections.
Usability and content revision
Alongside the technical update, we improved the user experience and applied the necessary content changes, always following the company’s guidelines and needs:
- Usability improvements and clearer navigation
- Content updates and reorganization following the team’s instructions
- Consistency between the product sections (Xtadium, CultVRe, YB Arena) and the site structure
SEO analysis, Search Console and heatmaps
Optimizing without measuring is like driving blindfolded. We backed the technical work with an SEO analysis based on real data:
- Monitoring and control through Google Search Console
- User behaviour analysis with Hotjar heatmaps
- Review of the URL structure and the redirects
- Fixing of indexing errors and suboptimal paths
Scalability and cookie management
A job well done doesn’t only solve today: it prepares tomorrow. We set up the site’s scalability to welcome future needs, starting with multilingual management, and took care of proper cookie management, in line with the company’s policies and current regulations.
The result: a solid technical base to grow on
Today YBVR’s website is faster, cleaner and easier to manage, with a structure ready to scale.
